Chapter 1: Lonesome Living
Waking up in a dense forest with little or no sunlight, A man clothed in ragged sweatshirt and joggers tries to remember why he was here as if having a bad hangover.
Groaning and placing his hand on his head the man whose body looked no longer than a man in his early twenties, he tried to look for water just to find a half empty bottle. After been a little bit awake, he went out of a cave where he sleeps.
He heard loud noises like a large animal passing through, roar of a wild animal and chirp of an insect, all together.
"Ah you're awake, are you ready for today" A voice that sounded like a woman's said in an exciting and yet alluring voice.
After hearing the voice, the young man got angry but could not do anything, he sighs and stared into the sky as if waiting for something to drop and he replied
"Ah fuck, let's just go"
He replied angrily and he heard a chuckle for that voice which made him angrier.
He entered the cave back and took a lot of wooden material; a wooden spear, a wooden trap and various wooden hunting material that looked shabby as if been made by an amateur. Placing most of the items in a bag that looked ragged.
He then left the cave anxiously and went to a riverbank and put his hand into the river looking for a trap he had set up earlier. After a series of checks, most of the traps placed down were either destroyed while the rest had little plankton or seaweed, he was happy and smiled.
"Compared to earlier this week this was something"
The voice said and then he got angry, but she was right, but he could not accept it and shouted.
"If it weren't for you, I would have been having a buffet right now; You brought me here just because..."
As he was yelling at the voice a large beast overshadowed him. He could not move.
"Ah Fuck, I'm screwed" Saying in a low and terrified voice
"I tried to warn you, but you were just yelling at me" the voice replied
"You didn't even try to warn me you liar"
He shouted again but this time regretted his action as the beast roared and slashed him.
"Was that a bear, no it can't be a bear" He thought to himself as he fell into the river flowing downstream.
"This is not the time to be thinking, try to survive" the voice said to him, he tried to reason but it was futile his wound was too deep to be healed
"If it weren't for you" as he laments wishing he did not die.
Just thinking why, he was placed in a land with wild animals and then he smiled. Without any hint of regret.
One week earlier
A man in a room with little or no light entering lay down a on a chair as he lost all hope, with sound coming from the tv and him looking at it but not watching it as if he were lost in thought.
He was a man who lost all motivation, in other words he grew lazy. He was never like this before he was genius who as above most average people, he learnt quicker than anyone also gave up on things easily,
If he were to learn a new language it would take him a day to fully understand that language and he would be bored instantly after learning it.
His life was like that for most of the time everywhere he went he was always recognized until... that incident.
After that, He went around trying different things, working up and down reading a lot of books and fulfilling most of his goals and trying to find the importance of living, but he could not.
Other people's opinions could not affect his thinking. His family got worried that he had a trauma from what he saw and took him to therapy, but nothing could change.
From then on, his life was like a planned schedule; from work to house then back repeatedly.
"How I wish something interesting happens"
As he pondered something unexpected happened.
Knock, Knock
He heard a knock at the door but wondered who it was, he had no friend who would quickly visit, even his family would call before coming to his house.
So, he decided to ignore it, his ears were playing tricks on him
Knock, Knock
Again, he heard it.
"I know you're in" a voice said.
David cautiously went to the door thinking it might be a robber or something. Putting his guard up but when he peeped through, he saw it was a man wearing a delivery uniform
"I did not order anything, please go back" David said.
"Are you not David Smith" the delivery man answered.
"I'm David Smith but I have not ordered anything recent..."
"Then this is your package" the delivery man answered cutting David statement
Opening the door and taking the package reluctantly. Then David nods his head, and the man went smiling.
Feeling something amiss, he then turned his head backward, but the man was gone.
"I did not sign any document," David said.
"How would the person know I received the package and who the hell is this from" David continued, lamenting as if he received a bomb
How did the man disappear and why did he not sign any document was what he was thinking, looking at the package which resembles a box, it felt heavy but at the same time light. He did not want to open the box, fearing it was a bomb, but curiosity got the best of him then he opened it.
A bright light shone out of the box.
"Was that a flash grenade, I knew I shouldn't have trusted a man wearing a delivery uniform"
David, feeling lightheaded, wondered what happened when he opened his eyes. He was in a room that was white, blinking a lot, wondering whether his eyes were playing tricks on him, but after a while he knew he was no longer home.
