Chapter 12: 1_ ch 10: interlude. Eya

“once again... alive? huh”

Sighing, the girl stood.

Looking around her, to the broken buildings, and empty cars, the girl smiled.

“What a nostalgic scene...”

Looking to the sky, and closing her eyes, the girl felt the cold droplets of rain on her face.

And for a moment, she stayed still like that, as if remembering something, while enjoying the silence around her, with the absence of voices but the rhythmic sound of rain.

But then suddenly the girl stiffened and blinked her eyes twice.

“something is wrong. I am feeling emotional, and a little.... excited ?”

“is it the effect of this body? but somehow, my mental state is ....”

Freezing in place, the girl suddenly looked at herself again.

“a child? could it be that being a child is affecting me more than I thought?”

“maybe the nostalgia wasn’t from the scenery alone, but also from returning to childhood.”

Thinking that such a thing is not so bad, the girl started to walk.

“so I am a child, in an unknown city, covered in unknown mysteries.

What worse can happen, right ?.”

Thinking about a joke like that, the girl heard a sound.

Whoosh

Turning around to look, the girl froze in place, as a giant claw was nearing her face.

If one were to look carefully, he may see a glimpse of a giant humanoid lizard. But for a girl in death’s door, such things were meaningless.

Splash.

And the asphalt was covered in red.

But contrary to what a person may think, what painted the asphalt red, was not a headless corpse of a little girl.

But a 2-meter black lizard-looking humanoid’s corpse, split in two with both parts flying in different directions.

And as the one responsible for that, the girl was already walking indifferently with the golden light, released from her hand disappearing into the air.

Then abruptly, the girl stopped walking.

“conditions, level up ?”

And for a moment as if confused, the girl was thinking.

“Ah, the system. I totally forgot about that. What will happen to me then ?”

Feeling curious at that, the girl summoned her status and looked at the numbers.

“so the name is Eya, and the stats are those of a normal person, with no skills.

Hmm, nothing impressive.”

Pouting, and cursing the boring status, the girl started walking to a building near.

But then as if she had a thought.

“If a monster like that were here, then a narrow path is going to be bothersome. To begin with, I don’t have any information on this place’s map.”

Thinking that such a thing should have been a part of the basics, and blaming her incomplete memory, the girl decided to survey the surrounding.

Making such a decision, the girl moved to the middle of the road.

And then with light suddenly released on both of her legs, in a fascinating golden color.

“Hup.”

The girl jumped, or maybe flew?

And as if a meteor was defying gravity, she started reaching toward the sky.

“was that too much power. But I controlled it. Weird.”

Leaving behind the roads and buildings the girl was moving at a high speed toward the sky.

But reaching a point, all the forces pushing her forward started decreasing.

And then her weight disappeared for a second, just for her to start falling again.

“What a nice breeze.”

Ignoring the fact that she has surpassed the clouds, and is now falling, the girl called Eya was in a nice mood.

Feeling the acceleration of her downfall, and enjoying such feeling this much was a nice experience. Or maybe...

“my body is affecting my mind. Is it?

To enjoy this game, am I becoming childish ?”

Accelerating toward the ground, with her face facing down, and her eyes looking around the cityscape below, the girl ignored her newfound childish side.

As she is finally awake again, after a long time of sleep.

And so, some fun is welcomed.

With her coming closer then closer to the ground, Eya looked more carefully around the dark city.

A cityscape that was covered in rain, cracked buildings, and ugl,y monsters.

But not thinking about it much, the girl reached the ground.

Boom

There was a lot of dust.

But as it cleared, it revealed a girl standing normally, with no proof of her being the one that was reaching to the moon.

Pointing her finger in a direction, Eya then spoke.

“that way. Finding a supermarket is another basic in this situation, after all.”

Feeling proud of her discovery, and weird about her way of acting, Eya decided to find a supermarket.

“guess I better move quickly.”

Saying so, she jumped from the ground, but this time, instead of reaching the clouds, she reached a building’s roof only.

“there.”

And started making her way.

Jumping from a roof to the other, she kept moving.

Then she suddenly turned to the side. Looking at the weird crow-looking creature that was flying in her direction, and she smirked.

Stopping at the next building’s rooftop, she waited for the monster to get closer. And then.

Slash.

Swinging her arm, a line of gold cut through the air and beheaded the crow.

But without waiting for the corpse to fall, tens of golden slashes cut it apart, leaving nothing of it.

“I guess such things are weak to me. Though, going by the stats it should be stronger than me by a ten to a hundred times, right? well, Who cares?”

But again, ignoring the fact of her crazy performance, and that a monster able to feast on men and cut apart metals easily, was actually cut to small pieces by what looks like a little girl, not even reaching half his level, she resumed her path.

Reaching the last rooftop, Eya stood there looking at the supermarket that she had found.

Looking at it carefully, she suddenly had a thought.

“do I even need food from there ?”

Feeling the truth in her words, she stopped advancing and instead turned to the door of stairs behind her.

Entering, she snapped her fingers.

And a ripple of golden light spread.

Ghaa. Khiii. WOooo.

Followed by a wave of howls and screams.

“so this takes care of the monsters inside. Though I don’t like this golden color much.

It looks....., well, cringy ?”

Walking inside, Eya kept opening and closing her hands, while looking at different colors of light.

Going down the stairs, she decided that a blue color won’t be bad.

And so, having chosen a new color to camouflage her energy, she entered an open door.

Finding herself in an apartment, Eya moved to the living room, taking her place on a couch.

Feeling comfortable, she gestured with her hand, and a remote flew toward her.

Catching it and turning on the TV, she smiled.

“so what kind of programs do they have here ?”

Feeling bored, but also curious, she stared at the empty TV, and with a click.

Scenes from around the city started appearing.
