Chapter 1: Am I Going to Die?
A boy who had no parents to call his own was treated with contempt and loathing by the people around him. He was despised without cause, and yet, despite the hatred that surrounded him, the nameless boy could not bring himself to feel malice towards those who had shown him nothing but animosity. There was no place for him in the village, and the people had no reason to be kind to him, so he had no knowledge of what kindness was. The boy was all alone on the cold and rainy night, The rain is pouring down in the streets, and the boy is soaked to the bone. With Raindrops falling, the boy is unable to see more than a few feet in front of him. The boy sits alone under a tree in the rain, his knees pulled up to his chest in a desperate attempt to stay warm. The boy's clothing is nothing but rags that are saturated with rainwater, clinging to his skin in an attempt to keep him warm. The boy looked up into the sky, his eyes drawn to the moon. His eyes were narrow and his mouth shut tight, as if he were holding back a scream.
For a young boy under the age of 10 to endure such suffering and not seek assistance from someone would typically be viewed as arrogant by many people. However, for a boy who had never received help before or witnessed acts of kindness, he might have perceived himself as a burden.
The boy sat under a tree to seek shelter from the chilly rain. Being too frail for his age, the boy focused on enduring until morning, telling himself he would deal with it tomorrow. The boy sits there and looks at the moon, that is full and bright, and as the moonlight filters through the branches of the trees. Suddenly there's a noise. A pack of wolves emerges from a bush. The wolves are lean and muscular, but appear starved.
The wolves pounced on the defenseless boy, with blood in his eyes, the boy tried to fight but it was too late. As the boy's body lies there, the sky starts to become gray and rain starts pouring. His body lies there motionless, The rain smells of earth and moss and green plants. The taste of his blood fills him with disgust. The rainwater tastes cold.
The boy trembles from the cold. The rain has soaked the branches of the tree. The gravely scent of death. The metallic odors of blood, fur, and rain.
The boy's heartbeat is weak. The rain is loud. The leaves of the tree are rustling in the wind and the sound of the raindrops falling on them is like someone beating on a drum.
A light emerges from the boy's body and hovers around like a ghost. The light slowly expands to cover the boy's body. The light is bright, it shows you every detail. It illuminates the boy, surrounded by darkness and the wolves that lie at his side. The light begins swirling around like a tornado, taking the boy's soul with it.
And the next thing you know
The boy's eyes became dull, and he appeared to be as good as dead. Or so, we thought. However, He was lying on the ground, it was dark and hard. The boy opened his eyes and looked around. Everything was dark. He gradually started to make out the shapes of objects around him. The boy found himself in a very strange looking alleyway. The alleyway was dark. The shadows of the buildings loomed overhead like giants of a forgotten time, and the sun was coming down. The boy could see the cobblestones and the dark silhouettes of the alley's inhabitants. Nevertheless, the boy starts exploring.
The boy looks around and sees the shadowy silhouettes of the alley's inhabitants. He passes an old man that goes the opposite direction as him. After he has crossed paths with the old man, the boy hears the sounds of people screaming and running away. The boy hears the sound of the fire burning. A stream of orange light shines through the alley. Smoke rises, people are running away, and the light from the flames paints the alley in a blood orange hue.The alley is bathed in the orange hue of a nearby fire. Burning flesh mingles with the smell of burning wood and buildings. This is what the boy smells as he watches the fire rise into the air. The fire crackles and pops, sending sparks flying into the air. The people continuously scream and yell, causing a ruckus that drowns out the sounds of the blaze as it
"Help! Help!" is the sound the boy hears. People are screaming in pain and fear. "Help me!" is another sound the boy hears as he watches the fire continue its rampage.
The boy's skin tingled. His internal instincts were telling him not to go to the fire, while at the same time he felt drawn to it like a moth to flame; a curious impulse that his mind couldn't understand. This feeling confused him and left him unsettled. It was almost as if he didn't have control over his body, which made him nervous. Despite this, he swallowed his anxiety and walked resolutely towards the light of the fire in the distance. When he reached it, though, all he found were people—men and women alike—standing next to the flames with brooms in their hands, scouring at any leaves or debris that fell into the fire. The boy turned around quickly, but then noticed a man standing ten paces from him who had caught his eye earlier. His long hair was tied back into a ponytail. There was something in his eyes that drew the boy in; some feeling that urged him to walk forward and see what would happen. He hesitantly took a step closer to the man and stopped. Something compelled him to look back.
The man in his mid-thirties, who looked as if he had never smiled and was serious all the time, spread his arms out and began to speak. Water gushed out of the ground like geysers breaking through the surface, extinguishing the fire pits that were giving off smoke. The boy stood there stunned; what is going on? Unsure about what had happened, he went back to where he had been prior to the commotion to try and figure out what had happened. The boy wandered around the streets for hours before he stumbled upon a group of people discussing their abilities.
After gathering the information, he gained more knowledge about these incredibly powerful yet invisible abilities in the world. Hearing some insights about their nature, he became curious if he could possess such superpowers himself. Upon reflection, he happened to overhear a conversation among a group of people discussing their abilities. Summoning up the courage, he mustered the audacity to inquire about the meaning and significance of these abilities. The group was perplexed by his lack of awareness but refrained from prying further. Once he gathered the necessary information, a blue screen emerged, spanning across everyone's field of view, though no one else seemed to notice it.
To the upper right of her vision, a tabulated screen appeared. It read as follows:
Overall, I'm not very good at anything. I've never seen anyone with this kind of status before. Although my stats are not great, I still have the potential to improve. I discovered that in order to open up the Status Window, all I had to do was think "Status" and it would appear right in front of me. The same goes for closing the Status Window; all I needed to do was think "closing window." In the upper left-hand corner of my vision, there is a different tab thing that I haven't unlocked yet, so I didn't waste any time and started walking again. But where exactly would he go?
