Chapter 4: Hope part 2
The ground had opened like a large mouth ready to devour everything. The monsters' numbers were great, but everything was going according to plan.
With the first ten steps, these beasts fell in a hole, only to be lit up by flames. Those that resisted the fire only met their end with a spear through the head and body.
These people in this village would all die if they went to fight straight on. They lack strength and the will to survive. This is an easy to fix problem, but more a matter of when. If you don't challenge yourself to change, then you will always be stuck at the bottom. Unable to fight.
The battle lasted for an hour with us being victorious. Who would have thought a small village could stop so many beasts? For once in my life I have accomplished something extraordinary. I was filled with joy but chose not to show it, because I knew difficult days would come, and I would need to be ready.
A loud victory cry was heard by the villagers. They had done it for the first time, they had hope and faith. A feast was held later that night, honoring our first day of freedom. We laughed, we ate and drank, the night went by.
This week's project was to construct a wall around the village and focus on rebuilding everything inside. With the amount of resources around this village, it should take about a week or more. We wasted no time and split into classes. There were five classes; hunters, resource gatherers, scouts, farmers, and builders.
Separating ourselves made it manageable to handle multiple tasks at hand. This has become more efficient.
Three weeks went by, the wall had been constructed. This village finally started looking like a home and not a graveyard. I could see smiles on everyone’s faces, a place to call home, huh, how I've dreamed of this day. Tears rolled down my cheek, and I was filled with every kind of emotion!
Although we have a few builders, none were experts or masters. I needed to travel to a city and sell all the monster parts we've been gathering these past few weeks and sell them to make a profit. With that money, then I can hire master builders and resources for my village.
Many of the villagers thought it was a bad idea to depart, but it had to be done. In order to grow, we need to take more chances and face difficult challenges. With me were ten other villagers. Crying all these monster parts was no easy task. We had at least ten wagons full of parts. It was going to be a slow journey.
It only took a couple of days to reach the city of Gold. As expected, all eyes were upon us as we entered the city. Carrying all these valuables became rather dangerous. A middle-aged man had approached us and wanted to buy our stocks.
How much are you willing to sell these fine pieces of parts, sir?
“Depends on how much you have to offer, why don't we start with a million?”
Mine, you think all this junk is worth that much. Please do not flatter yourself.
“Who says it's only common? If I recall there was a big guy I fought, I think he might have been an A-grade or higher. We have many of those, surely you don't tend to waste these valuables.”
Ten million. Someone had shouted from the crowd.
“My, my, looks like you have competitions.”
25 million! Another yelled.
The game for money had started, just like betting except you could lose your life. Coming to Gold City was the best move I've made. Money will not be a problem now. Monster parts can be used to make weapons, artifacts, anything the mind desires.
One-hundred million.
“My, and who you might be?”
I am Johnson Whitlock, third son of Sir John Whitlock-
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, I get it you're from a noble family. Now let's talk business.”
These fine parts will do Whitlock well. How about becoming our business partner and letting us know whenever you can supply us again?I'd even raise the price!
“You bloody royals really are rich after all. Yes, business will be usual every month in the same spot. Do say, you wouldn't know where to find a master builder, a couple of blacksmiths now, do you?”
Of course. I personally will find the best of the best for my partner. These matters will be dealt with momentarily. Wayne, please fetch me what our guest has demanded and bring the money. Thank you.
“Hahaha. That's the power of royalty. I must say it must be pleasant.”
Please you flatter me. Only the best for my partner. Here is your payment. These gentlemen and ladies are those you asked for. Do not worry, they have all been paid. Pleasure to do business with your Mr?
“Adebowale. Pleasure to do business with you, Sir Johnson Whitlock.”
Likewise, I wish you the safest voyage back.
“Hahaha. Do not worry, none of these shrimps are able to beat me, it would only lead to meaningless sacrifices.
We shook hands and went our separate ways. That's how business is done. Not only getting a ton of money, but building an alliance. My business was done, and now it was time for me to go home.
