Chapter 3: The Sweeping of Gutter Part 2
Conditions outside were not as chaotic as inside the faculty building. The most striking difference from the chaos was the appearance of strange monsters which suddenly attacked residents.
Along with black snow falling. The sky became gray, very gloomy, and looked sad.
Screams were heard everywhere, cries for help, and a rush of footsteps chasing each other.
The inextinguishable flames destroyed pools of blood spread far across the street. However, in times of chaos, it was not only the Adis University area, but also the entire world. A chuckle sounded in the dark sky.
—Have fun. There's nothing more fun than trying to survive a mysterious threat, right? Therefore, I will give you this opportunity and make the best use of it, okay?
Yogi and his friends, who were taking shelter under the rubble of a building close to the university, felt shocked.
The three of them saw a notification board that was like the one in a game.
—Show your last struggle, mortal creatures, because I, as an observer, will always pay attention to your progress in this battle of life and death... hahaha. The humorous tone, which could be described as a child's mischief, reached people in various countries and throughout the country.
However, what made everyone astonished was the transparent notification board that appeared before them.
In it there is a status and also a complete explanation, like a tutorial on a game. There are several options, such as My Status, skills, and Help that appear when people touch the transparent hologram board.
—I will always pray for your safety, mortal creatures... hahaha. Always pay attention to your surroundings, because you will not know when, what, how, where, who, and why you could die without a real warning.
After that, the voice disappeared, leaving behind faint laughter.
The faculty building where Adistira was unconscious has ended up in a terrible state. Despite the destruction and imminent collapse of the place, Adistira remained unconscious.
The young man's body leaned against the corner of a pillar supporting the building and trash can. With his left arm bruised and his head bleeding, he slowly recovered consciousness.
“A-a-ahhh... w-what happened? W-w-where is this?”
He tried to get up but fell again with a heavy breath. Adis could feel his chest tighten and his breathing was unstable. Apart from that, his left arm seemed immobile.
“I-I didn't think there would be an earthquake. To the point of causing this building to collapse..."
After looking around and sinking into his own thoughts for a moment. Adis narrowed down the existing explanations and tried his best not to panic in this tense and mysterious situation.
He knew well that if he panicked, his brain would stimulate his body to move, and cause the injuries all over his body to get worse. The calmer he is, the better it will be.
However, he also understood that if he remained in that place, it was likely that no one could save him. The young man tried to lift his body slowly.
Resting on a sturdy trash can beside him, he could finally stand with limping legs and slightly blurred vision.
The condition of the building hallway is not much different from its current condition. Crushed like rubble and the ceiling opened free. The black snow came in slowly, as if it were normal rain in broad daylight.
Adis could only stare at the snow falling.
“S-snow?! In a tropical rainforest country like this?!”
Of course it will surprise everyone to see it. However, what caught his attention again was the appearance of a hologram board, and hysterical screams and screams from outside the building.
"Hmm?" Adis tried to hold the hologram table, but what he got was a transparent hand. He didn't understand what it was and why it appeared.
After that, Adis tried to walk with his limp legs near the outside window. There he saw various sights that were unsightly.
Unidentified perpetrators scattered corpses, coated the main road of the university with blood, uprooted trees, demolished and set fire to buildings outside, and generated billowing black smoke that could be visible from various locations.
“Huh!—w-what the hell?! What actually happened while I was unconscious?"
Not long after, a roaring monster again diverted Adis' attention. The monster was chasing several people who were running from another faculty park.
They all carried weapons, which, strangely, Adis didn't understand where they got them from.
Some carried baseball bats, machetes, long iron rods, swords, shields, and even a gun. They all ran to avoid the monster's pursuit.
The monster halted briefly upon hearing several gunshots, only to find itself encircled and attacked by individuals wielding sharp weapons.
Adis's heart suddenly started beating hard. His chest hurt, and he tried to relieve it by squeezing his trousers.
After seeing the monster and the armed people, he remembered the orphanage where he grew up. He was worried if something happened to his family members, but right now he preferred to be quiet for a moment and sat leaning against the wall.
“So disgusting. What is that? What was that disgusting creature? Bear, huh?”
If it continues like this, I might die from blood loss. I can't just stay here, at least until I get to the orphanage before sunset, he thought.
Adis took a breath and let it out repeatedly. He tried to calm and strengthen himself after seeing the previous scene, which almost made him fell on the spot.
After that, he got up again and hobbled towards the bottom floor. Currently, he is on the third floor of five floors.
Adis arrived at the bottom floor a few moments later, panting, with blurry vision, a left eye covered in fresh blood, and feeling dizzy. With all that, he managed to arrive on the first floor, but Adis wanted to take the left path that connected the elevator and the registration report area.
An enormous monster guarded the door. Resembling a giant frog with a human body, the creature was pitch black and mucus dripping slowly onto the floor.
Adis immediately hid and alerted himself. While his heart was beating wildly fast, he was also trying to maintain his breathing rhythm so as not to have a panic attack.
What was that creature? Why is that creature guarding the door of the faculty building? T-t-this isn't right, he thought.
It is true that currently the world is in chaos and when all that happened. Adis could only hide and ask himself various strange questions.
He was afraid, but also no. Panic, perhaps? More precisely, very alert. He was watching the big, disgusting, faceless black creature with trepidation.
He does not currently have any weapons in his possession.
His eyes reflexively glanced at the sling bag around his left hip.
"No, no, no. What was I thinking? For a moment, I thought I would throw this bag at the creature. I cannot do it ...."
However, his brain seemed to have a sudden idea, and remembered the hologram board that had previously appeared suddenly.
He thought about bringing it back, but unfortunately, Adis didn't know how.
The first thing that came in and out of his mind was a memory of a game. Where a player only needs to press the start button to pause the game and see its status via the status panel.
Adis tried to imagine it, but the panel didn't appear. Until the building shook again and rolled itself right in front of the gigantic monster.
That's when the panel appeared and displayed an announcement in the form of a side quest.
