Chapter 2: Survival

Upon exploring this island was an abandoned house. Before entering in there was a strong odor that filled our nose. We soon discovered the body of a monster, from the looks of it this house has been abandoned for years. There were two floors with four bedrooms and an arsenal. Inside the arsenal was weapons, armors, books, and barrels that contains food.

The house was dirty, but it didn't take long to clean, for now this was home. While reading the books we found inside something caught our attention. Where we were was the Island of Ademola, about hundreds of years ago it was cursed, at night monsters crawl throughout the ground like the undead and that forced everyone to abandon it.

Today is the day I turn six-teen. If I was back in the royal capital today would be the day where I would be given a name by the Monarch after finishing military training. Never in the back of my mind did I like royalty. They only care about their wealth, power, and ruling over others. The moment someone touches a glimpse of royalty they don't want to go back. They get chained to it like a slave who is bound to their chain for eternity.

I named myself Adebowale and with me was Fitzgerald and Khalfani. We continued our day by sparing and hunting. It was about night-time when we heard strange noises outside. Rushing towards the door we saw the ground splitting and inside monsters were monsters crawling out. Quickly we rushed back inside in the arsenal. I grabbed a sword and shield, Fitzgerald equipped himself with a spear, and Khalfani grabbed a long sword.

Rushing back outside, my first target was what seemed to be like a knight. With full speed, hitting it with my shield stunning it, then I pierced it straight into its chest with sword. There was no blood, quickly I kicked it with full force sending it to the ground and with that stab it straight through its head. The body vanish like ash carried by wind. Looking around we were all defeating these monsters from left to right.

This battle went on and on the more we killed the more came crawling out of that hole. Eventually, a big monster type came out, it was about seven feet tall, large and equipped with a big sword. One swing from it caused the whole ground to shake. I could tell we were all scared, trembling, this wasn't like the rest of those ordinary monsters. It was more of a boss. I didn't care what it was, I pushed my body to move still being in shock.

Running circles around it, I aimed for its knee, I could have sworn I swinged my sword with full force against the back of its knee but there was no damage. It did not take long for this monster to fight back, hitting the ground with its big sword causing a wind of dust, quickly I stepped back.

"Hey, snap out of it!!!" I screamed at Fitzgerald and Khalfani

I seemed to have gotten their attention. We all surrounded the giant in a circle targetting its knee and Khalfani distracting it. Again, I ran with at it with full speed targetting its right knee but this time hitting it with my shield multiple times. After hitting it many times finally it felt on one knee, quickly taking this opportunity I targeted its left knee hitting it over and over repeatedly until it fell straight to its face.

At that moment Fitzgerald took his spear and pierce the monster through its knee causing it to let out a loud scream. This was our chance. I looked at Khalfani and we both ran towards its head each of us facing the opposite direction with full force cutting its head off clean. The hole that was once opened in the middle ground had close. Just like the rest of the other monsters its body turned into dust and vanished into the air just like wind.

We all looked at each other and started laughing. This was the first time we had fought monster but still managed to come out successful. We decided to call it a night and head to bed knowing tomorrow will be another battle. Five months had passed since we've been living on this island. Every day we woke up at dawn, spar, hunt, trail run, spar, and fought monsters at night.

All of us had grown and mature not only in strength but in wisdom. Today was the day we separated ways, we haven't explored any parts of this island, and needed to know for a fact if we are only the only ones living on this island. Never in the back of my mind did I see this day coming but we all knew it was for best and would reunite once more in the future.
